Parenting Resources

"Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

Parents have the responsibility of teaching God’s ways to their children. The Media Library can help.   In addition to a Children’s Room full of books, DVDs, games and more, we carry resources designed for parents too.  Almost 700 resources are available for loan to FBA members. These include books, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines with information for families in these areas:

Parenting (birth through adulthood)

  • Mothers
  • Fathers
  • Stepparents
  • Single Parents
  • Grandparents

Family Life

  • Responsibilities
  • Communication
  • Discipline
  • Sibling Rivalry

Meeting Children’s Needs

  • Spiritual Growth
  • Academic Goals
  • Healthy Emotions

These and other marriage, family and parenting resources can be found in Sections 306 and 249 (Dewey Decimal Library System). A separate Home Schooling section includes resources to supplement children's academic curriculum as well as books dealing with special situations such as death, divorce, children with physical disabilities and sex education. The Children's Room with books, CDs, DVDs and magazines for children birth to age 12 is located at the back of the main library, and a separate Young Adult section of books for teenagers is located near the circulation desk.
