Speakers

Beth Guckenberger

Beth and her husband, Todd, live with their family in Cincinnati, Ohio where they serve as Co-Executive Directors of Back2Back Ministries. After graduating from Indiana University, the Guckenberger’s moved to Monterrey, Mexico where they lived for 15 years. Between biological, foster, and adopted children, they have raised eleven children.  Beth is the author of sixteen books including adult and children’s titles. She travels and speaks regularly at conferences, youth gatherings and church services about reckless faith. Her style is based in story-telling and she draws from her vast field experience as a missionary, Bible teacher and parent for illustrations of biblical concepts.

Jamie C. Finn

Jamie is the author of Foster the Family and Filled.  She is also the founder and president of Foster the Family, a national nonprofit that serves vulnerable children and the families, as well as the founder of the Filled Gathering, the largest gathering of foster and adoptive moms in the world. Though the words “foster care” are not in the Bible, the act of caring for the vulnerable is clearly important to God. Perhaps nowhere is that kind of tender attention and care for the vulnerable more evident than in the act of fostering a child.

Bishop W.C. Martin & Donna Martin

Bishop W.C. Martin and his wife, Lady Donna Martin, lead Saving A Generation Ministry and pastor Bennett Chapel Baptist Church in Possum Trot, Texas. Their inspiring story, How Love Came to the Least of Them, was published by Focus on the Family and chronicles how their small church adopted a total of 77 children out of the foster care system between 1998 and 2003.

The journey began with Lady Donna, who, while grieving the loss of her mother, felt led to follow in her mother’s footsteps by loving on children, specifically, the broken, unloved, and forgotten children in foster care. She and Bishop Martin completed the necessary classes to become licensed foster and adoptive parents and soon shared their vision with the congregation.

As Bishop Martin began preaching on the biblical foundation of adoption, citing Romans 8:15 and the truth that all believers are adopted into God’s family, members of the church felt called to do the same. One by one, families began the adoption process. What started as a personal calling became a church-wide movement, ultimately giving birth to a ministry committed to saving a generation of children through love and the gospel.
