Since 1848, First Baptist Atlanta has been shining as a light for the Gospel in Atlanta and around the world. We have now entered a new season of ministry, one in which we are infusing our building with renewed vitality through major repairs and beautiful renovations. Through these costly investments, we are positioning our great church to reach the next generation of those who will follow Jesus.
A Word from Our Pastor
Dr. Anthony George
Our 2024 theme at FBA is based on Ephesians 4:12 - “EQUIP God’s people to do God’s work.” As this year draws to a close, it gives each of us an opportunity to reflect on the ways that we are working to EQUIP the church to meet the challenges of today while preparing for the doors of kingdom opportunity God will open for us tomorrow.
The Lord placed it on my heart to extend a simple invitation to those who love FBA, appreciate what we stand for, and believe in our mission. Would you consider sharing a monetary love gift as an expression of your love for Christ and for what He is doing in and through FBA?
Equipping Our Worship
We are nearing completion on our multi-million dollar renovation of the Worship Center and surrounding areas. This is a project that our late pastor, Dr. Charles Stanley, began discussing back in 2016. Now those preliminary plans have become a reality.
- Over 2,700 new seats
- New carpet in the Worship Center and common areas
- 500-panel LED wall
- State-of-the-art audio and lighting systems
- An expanded choir loft to accommodate more growth
New Café at the Rotunda
We are excited to have a new café space that will be open on Sunday and throughout the week, serving custom coffee beverages, made-from-scratch pastries, and providing a place for people to gather or to work remotely.
Equipping Our Building
Since 2020, we have been investing in long-deferred maintenance projects, including reroofing our building, replacing the chillers and boilers original to the building from 1968, and finally completing the roofing project in June of this year.
Equipping Our School
God answered our prayers by giving us a fully-functioning, Bible-based, K-8th grade Christian school. In order to welcome them to our property, it required an extensive and costly renovation. And while we met the deadline to get them here, in order for the school to grow, more renovations will be needed.
Equipping Our Future
These comprehensive renovations have come from the reserves God led us to put aside in previous years. And now we have the opportunity to replenish those reserves through a generous love offering from our church family. Looking ahead, there are still more projects we need to complete, such as resurfacing our parking lot, renovating our Kids’ Ministry area, installing a new entrance sign, and refreshing other areas of our building, including our staff offices, which were last renovated over 25 years ago.
Our Unchanging Mission
After 176 years of continuous ministry, our consuming assignment remains the same.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Decide in Your Heart
Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
2 CORINTHIANS 9:6-8 NLT
Principles for Giving
- God blesses us when we give.
- Each person must determine the amount of his or her gift.
- No one should give from a sense of pressure or guilt.
- God is pleased when we give willingly and joyfully.
Ways to Give
Between now and December 31, ask the Lord to show you what He would have you give to the 2024 EQUIP offering. If he doesn’t lead you, then don’t give. But if He does lead you, you can give online by clicking the button below.
