Welcome to Missionary Care

"I will open the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows." Malachi 3:10

The Missionary Care Center (MCC) is a ministry that was started in October 1989 by a group of First Baptist Church Atlanta women that had a heart for missionaries.

The purpose of the Center is to allow God to show His love to those He has called to serve as missionaries. We do this by ministering to the material needs of FBA Faith Promise missionaries and other qualified missionaries.

The MCC is a clothing and household goods boutique stocked with new items or items in excellent condition. There are sections for men, women, young adults and children. The household area is stocked with dishes, sheets, towels, cookware, utensils, and decorator items. Because of storage restraints, large household items/furnishings are not available. However, information is kept on those willing to donate such items, and missionaries are matched with these contributors as needs arise.

Whom Do We Serve?

We serve missionaries supported by FBA, as well as those serving missions’ agencies approved by the FBA World Missions Ministry. Please see Missionary Guidelines.

How the Items Are Made Available

The items are made available as people give them! As you can see, this is a strategic ministry to support the missionaries. Do you have any nice items to donate or time to volunteer, or are you a professional willing to donate services? If so, please contact us.

Missionary Guidelines

Missionaries supported by First Baptist Atlanta and those from approved missionary agencies may be served by the Missionary Care Center. Approved agencies are those who are affiliated with either the Evangelical Fellowship of Mission Agencies (EFMA) or Interdenominational Foreign Mission Association (IFMA).

To be served by the MCC, you must be a career and / or retired missionary. If you are just beginning to raise your support, we can serve you one time. After your initial visit, we ask that you achieve at least 50 percent of your needed support before returning for a follow-up visit.

Items in the Care Center are for your personal use or for use by members of your immediate family as long as they are serving with you or are fully supported by you.

Items from the Missionary Care Center are not available to friends or other family members who may accompany you during your visit.

Note: Exceptions to these guidelines can be made only by the director of the Missionary Care Center or the minister of World Missions. Please do not place our volunteers in an awkward position by asking them to make exceptions to these guidelines.

In order to serve each missionary personally, we ask that you make an appointment by calling the Center at 770-234-8441 or emailing Rick Taylor at rick@fba.org. The center is open Monday through Thursday.

Contribution Guidelines

The missionaries who visit our Missionary Care Center are very special people, and in order to serve them as unto the Lord, we ask that all items be clean and free of stains, tears, rips, and holes and that they be stylish and sized properly. Please attach a note to the garment indicating the size, especially for men's suits. Small appliances should be in good working order. Please do not bring furniture because we don't have storage space. However, if you do have furniture, please call the World Missions Ministry at 770-234-8236 or the Missionary Care Center at 770-234-8441 for specific needs.

Contributions may be brought to the Missionary Care Center dropoff room near the North Peachtree Road (Eastside) Grand Hallway entrance Sunday to Friday, 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. If you desire a receipt, please leave your name and address attached to your contributions. If you need more information or would like to visit the Center, please call 770-234-8441.

Please, only give items that are new or in excellent condition.

All work is done by volunteers of our church. Please help us to be good stewards of our time and energy.

Missionary Care Volunteer Testimonials

"I’ve been a First Baptist Church Atlanta member for 5 years and serving Jesus Christ in the mission’s field for 32 years. I have the daily opportunity to work with Pastor Rick Taylor. Together we serve missionaries from all over the world. Serving missionaries is by far the most enjoyable thing I’ve ever done and Pastor Rick Taylor is great to work with. The missionaries are always so grateful for all we do. It is truly a blessing to work and serve our Lord Jesus this way."
Love in Jesus Name,
Elsie Massey

"How would I ever know that by your trips to collect the Jos. A. Banks clothing; I would be led to volunteer with the Missionary Care Center. God has certainly blessed this decision in many ways—constant opportunity to enjoy special godly co-volunteers and Mission Families—working in an environment of love, joy and humility—learning and seeing great faith put to the test."
Many thanks for the experience,
Mr. Carol Morin

"It is a joy to volunteer in the Missionary Care Center. I see first hand the wonderful items donated to our missionaries that serve our Lord."
Sara Thompson

"Volunteering at the MCC is for me a call from God, very similar to His call to others to the mission field. It's helping others - the joy of service, whether in nominal tasks, encouragement, or prayer. It's serving shoulder to shoulder with other like-minded volunteers. Interaction with the missionaries is the icing on the cake - the thrill of seeing practical and spiritual needs met - and knowing God has used me in some tiny way in their lives. What an honor to have assisted those on God's "front lines" for 17 years so far!"
