Imagine living in a foreign country with people who speak another language, thousands of miles from your hometown, facing the daily challenges of navigating a very different way of life. That’s reality for many of our missionary families around the world. Now imagine how encouraging it would be to receive a card reminding you that someone back home is thinking about you and praying for your specific needs.

First Baptist Church Atlanta currently supports 97 missionary families. The Missionary Adoption Program (MAP) is an exciting initiative operating within our church family that enables you to “adopt” a missionary from your own home. You can do this by praying for your missionary’s needs and encouraging them in their God-given ministry. Just imagine the power you have to touch lives around the globe through the love of Christ!

Families, individuals or Sunday school classes can adopt a missionary. There are no financial responsibilities involved; all of the First Baptist Church Atlanta missionaries are financially supported through your Faith Promise Mission Fund gifts.

We suggest the following ways to encourage your adopted missionary:

1. Pray regularly for your missionary
2. Send special occasion cards (birthdays, holidays, anniversaries)
3. Write e-mails or letters as often as you can

Serving as a missionary adopter does not require much effort, but it does require commitment. Ask the Lord to reveal how you can creatively care for your missionary. It is a privilege to help care and pray for these dear servants of the Lord, and the blessings are tremendous.
