Summer Suits for Sisters

Ladies, do you have suits in your closet that you aren't even wearing? Demonstrate Christ's love by donating gently worn or newly purchased summer, two-piece suits and modest church attire to My Sister's House, Atlanta Union Mission during our suit drive from May 19 through June 30. All donations are welcome but larger sizes are especially needed.

Local Missions: Intentional and Biblical

Local Missions are service opportunities in your own backyard. A passion for missions doesn’t have to take you overseas; through the power of the Holy Spirit, you can serve as a witness for Jesus Christ in your hometown and surrounding areas. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and even to the remotest part of the earth.” The Great Commission is all encompassing, sending some to foreign missions, but challenging many of us to serve as missionaries right here at home – locally.

Many of our members are involved with the local missions ministry of Atlanta Mission.

It is a great organization with a huge vision to end homelessness in Atlanta.  There is a men's sbanner_AtlantaMissionhelter, and a women and children's shelter.  Here at first Baptist Atlanta, you can be a host to a woman w ho comes to First Bapti st Atlanta every first Sunday of the month called First Sunday for Sisters.  The women are shuttled in fro m My Sister's House, the women's and children's shelter of the Atlan ta Mission.  They are escorted into the Worship Center to hear the sermo n , then escorted to Sunday School, and have lunch and fellowship and prayer afterwards.  On the third Sunday of the month the same happens with the men in a ministry called Brothers of Encouragement.  Won't you consider taking the opportunity in becoming a host or hostess for one of these ongoing monthly events?  You can also serve on any of the two campuses of the Atlanta Mission, serving dinners, or taking care of children during the Chapel services.  You'll be glad you did knowing that you had a part in this ministry of en couragement, and maybe take part in helping plant and water the gospel. There are also many other activities throughout the year, such as the warm coat drive, summer suit drive, diaper drive, and Sister Tea For You and Me. Even if you can't get involved, you can simply click on the Atlanta Mission logo and find out more of thatlLocal missions organization.  You may even wish to donate.  Do what you can, where you can, the best you can.  You'll be glad you did.
