Academy of Performing Arts
Frequently Asked Questions

Is APA strictly for children or can adults enroll?

  • Both adults and children are welcome to enroll. Many adults are already enrolled in the program. Both beginners and more advanced students will find attentive help to develop as an artist.

Must students be FBA church members?
  • Enrollment is open to the public and not reserved to church members. One of the purposes of APA is to foster relationships between FBA and our community.

How are lessons scheduled?
  • After a student is registered and we have received the application, an instructor will contact the student to determine a mutually acceptable day and time for lessons. (Please note: Students who register after the deadline may find an instructor’s schedule already full or that there are no openings at the student’s preferred times.)

Are there discounts for multiple children from the same family?
  • A multiple-child tuition discount of 10% is now available for the second student from the same household.

What are the requirements for APA instructors?
  • They must profess to be a Christian.
  • They must consent to background checks. (Criminal, credit and driving records are checked.)
  • They must be active in the First Baptist Church Atlanta Music and Media Ministry. (Choir, orchestra, special events, etc.)
  • They must agree to obey the policies of APA.
  • APA Instructors are all qualified artists from within our own congregation. While there is presently no requirement for a degree in a particular area, instructors are compensated based on their education and prior teaching experience.
